Rolle Bolle summer seasonal ale from New Belgium Brewing (extended cut)

A delightful summer ale for easy sipping and a classic Belgian yard game for easy enjoyment, Rolle Bolle is how we roll. Brewed with monk fruit and soursop, this beer pours a brilliant blonde, with a fluffy, white head. Earthy and tropical tones carry the aroma and the taste follows accordingly. Rolle Bolle’s hint of tartness is backed with the citrus bite of Cascade and Centennial hops. Oats add some creaminess to the mouthfeel, and it finishes dry and clean. Time to get in the yard, crack a bottle and start rolling.

Spearbeer by Crow Peak Brewing Co. – Off Sale Podcast: Episode 38

Welcome to the Off Sale Podcast; a weekly beer review by the staff at Fused Interactive. This week, we are super excited to review Spearbeer, Crow Peak Brewing’s flagship “Spearfish” beer. I had the opportunity to speak with Josh Fritz, Vice President of Crow Peak. He provides us with some additional insight on the Spearfish specialty brew. Thanks, Crow Peak, for sharing what is commonly a taproom-only handcrafted beer with us beer geeks in Eastern South Dakota.

Lauren Salazar interview at Bros Brasserie

I had the distinct privilege of meeting Lauren Salazar of New Belgium Brewing Company at the Lips of Faith beer tasting/food pairing event in Sioux Falls. The event was held at Bros Brasserie in Downtown Sioux Falls.

Lauren presented her hand crafted beers to a packed house. The crowd was very receptive and willing to try “new” styles of beer including a couple sours and the spicy Cocoa Mole beer that we had with dessert.

Hands down, this was a phenominal event. Each of the five courses complimented the accompanying beer to a tee. At one point, shortly after being presented with the pork belly dish paired with the Cascara Quad, Lauren gathered the audience’s attention, and let them know it was the best food and drink pairing she had ever tasted. This saying a lot from someone who has attended upwards of 300 beer dinner events.

Following dinner, I had a rare chance to meet Lauren. She is truly passionate about craft beer, the sanctity of taste, and the work she is doing with New Belgium.

My favorite line from our interview occurred during her tangent about “good beer” versus “bad beer.” (12:05 in the recording)

“If it [the beer] is true to brand and free of all flavors, it’s not bad. If you make a beer, and every single time you make it intentional, consistent and repeatable, that’s your style. And no one is to say that, ‘That’s good or bad.’ That’s just what it is.”

A special thanks goes out to Kosta Theodosopoulos for introducing me to Lauren and providing me with the opportunity to interview her one-on-one, and to Bros Brasserie for putting on this spectacular event.

Lastly, I want to give a huge thanks to Lauren Salazar for making the trip to Sioux Falls, and to New Belgium for allowing her to travel to the Midwest in the name of beer education and advancement.

Cheers to all who attended the event! You can listen to my interview with Lauren Salazar on SoundCloud.

Cocoanuty, smoky and delicious. Make a point to try the Crowcoanut Porter by Crow Peak Brewing Company. It’s similar to their Pile ’O Dirt Porter with a few extra flavors added. And did you see the wicked glass can they serve it in? Simply too much awesomeness going on at once.
Currently, both Monks and Bros Brasserie in Sioux Falls, SD have it on tap. Truly a rare treat for us East River South Dakota folks.
